Itinerary
A cinematic journey across the landscape.
Morning (10:00): The Climb to the Castle
Starting at the Goreme office at 10:00, we begin a steady climb up towards Uchisar on a dirt road that affords increasingly wide views over the valley below. We pass by Pigeon Valley to photograph the incredible scenery before arriving at Uchisar Castle, the highest point in the region.
Lunch (13:00): House of Memories
We enjoy a leisurely lunch at a characterful restaurant overlooking Pigeon Valley, Ortahisar, and on clear days, all the way to the Erciyes volcano in the distance.
Afternoon (14:30 - 16:00): Love Valley & Swords Valley
After lunch, we relax with a long, gentle downhill freewheel along the edge of the Love Valley canyon on smooth, easy-to-handle tracks. Crossing the valley flats to Cavusin, we visit the 6th Century Church of St John set amongst towering, crumbling cliffs. The final section back to Goreme takes us through Swords Valley (Kiliclar), passing an immense landscape of fairy chimneys, rock-cut dwellings, and a thousand-year-old monastery complex.
